Usttad scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs with an aim to develop capacity and upgrade the traditional skills of master craftsmen/artisans. These trained master craftsmen/artisan will provide training to the minority youths in various specific traditional arts/crafts.
Objectives of the Scheme
• To protect prosperous tradition of traditional arts and crafts of minorities.
• To establish standards of recognized arts/ crafts and their documentation.
• To develop ties of traditional skills with the global market.
• To create means of better standards of living for marginalized minorities and bring them in the mainstream.
• To assure honour of labour.
• To outline development and research in traditional arts/crafts.

Ans:-The following are the components of the scheme :-
• Enhancement of skills and training in traditional arts/crafts through institutions.
• USTTAD Fellowship for Research and Development.
• Assist to craft museum for categorising traditional arts/ crafts.
• Assist to minority craftsmen/artisans for trading their products.

Ans:-The eligibility criteria are as follows:-
• The candidate must belong to the minority community.
• The candidate’s age group must be between 14 to 35 years of age.
• The candidate must have passed at least a 5th standard.

Ans:-The period of the training would be for a minimum of two months and a maximum of one year based on the selected traditional art or craft. The course would comprise training on soft skills, IT, spoken english depending on the level of trainees.
